Heritage Weekend 2019 & Melville accolade

The Johannesburg Heritage Foundation has published the programme for their heritage weekend tours. It takes place on the 12th & 13th of October with various bus and walking tours on offer as well as a Blue Plaques treasure hunt. As always, there will historical talks, book on sale and refreshments available.

All tours depart from the Holy Family College, 40 Oxford Road. Pricing and payment details are on the programme.

Melville voted one of the 50 coolest neighbourhoods in the world

A recent Timeout survey has put Melville in the top 50 of the coolest neighbourhoods in the world and the only one representing South Africa. Having lived here for over 20 years, we tend to agree… After all, it was our Melville house that inspired my historical interest and this blog which in-turn, has produced a book and friendships within the heritage community.

The next scheduled suburb post is Fordsburg and it will be published in October around the Heritage Tour weekend. It’s looking good, but as these things do, it’s taking forever.
